Business Philosophy

 

Our philosophy is to provide our clients with the basics required to start their own business to a high standard and at an affordable rate.

 

People

 

Dawn Lane is the owner of a successful Virtual Assistant (VA) business, Your Office Online, was the first VA in the UK to become VACertified in 2009, and has just become runner up in the Freelance Consultant category at The Remote Worker Awards 2010. With no business experience, Dawn set up her VA practice in 2006 building her own web site, learning about hosting, domain names and email addresses, using the Internet she researched all she needed to make her business financially viable and successful.

 

 

Dawn is a business professional with over 30 years' organisational, leadership and managerial experience, much of which was gained during a 22-year career in the Royal Navy. Since leaving the the Royal Navy in 1999, Dawn has worked as assistant to the Devon regional business development manager  of  a national construction company; office manager at a large family run holiday park in Cornwall and as Personal Assistant to an Associate Director  within  the Redevelopment and Redesign department of the local Strategic Health Authority in Devon and Cornwall.

 

Dawn has built up a team of professional associates, which includes accountants and bookkeepers, marketing gurus, and other Virtual Assistants, upon whom she is able to call to be able to offer her clients a full range of services, skills and experience.

 

Dawn’s business philosophy for her VA practice is to provide her clients with high standard professional administration services at an affordable rate without the requirement for them to employ staff. In many cases, Dawn has helped increase her clients’ turnover by tenfold whilst working with them.

 

History

 

Open and honest about how she set up her VA practice, Dawn has helped a number of aspiring VAs start their business by being approachable and passionate about her business, and offering her time freely, has helped them understand what it takes to become successful as a VA and whether self employment is the right thing for them.

 

Having learned the hard way what works and what doesn’t in her business, Dawn has now turned to helping other people get their business off the ground.

 

Although initially aimed at the VA market, her area of expertise, at a recent seminar Dawn was given the opportunity to pitch her new business idea to an audience of over 80 business people and, amazed at the number of people who approached her at the end asking for more information, has now changed the audience for this new business to any entrepreneurs starting their own business.
